Getting Started Early

We planted some seeds out in one of our raised beds on March 2nd… and some spinach and mache are coming up! We’ve kept them under plastic, which has worked great. We also planted carrots, parsnips, romaine, beans and onions. We chose seed varieties that can germinate in cold soil and temperatures and just planted a row or two of each thing to see if we could get anything going. We’re kind of surprised that anything happened but this raised bed gardening really did the trick. There was no soil preparation involved; we just went outside and stuck our seeds in and they are growing.
